People often ask me how my love for jewelry started. The truth is, it wasn’t born from glamour or runways. It was born from a place of deep frustration, and honestly, a lot of self-hate.

Growing up as a "plus-size" girl in the early 2000s, the
fashion world didn't love me back.

I remember the cold lighting of dressing
rooms, the tears wiped away in secret, and the lie I’d tell the salesclerk:
"I just don't like it," when the truth was, it simply didn't fit.

I didn't have the luxury of choosing my style; I had to settle for whatever would actually go over my hips.

In those moments of heartbreak, I found my escape: Accessories.

Jewelry didn't care about my pant size. An earring fits every ear. A necklace can always be extended. Jewelry was the only place where I wasn't "too much" or "not enough." It was the only way I could scream my individuality to the world when my clothes forced me to hide. I chose the boldest, loudest, most "extra" pieces, not just to decorate myself, but to find myself.

Healing the Little Girl Inside Today, I am more at peace with who I am. But I also see that little girl who cried herself to sleep, and I reach out to hug her. I started Cleo for her. And for you.
